Episode 5 - A Visit To MoJo's House - The Providence Academy.
But First ... THANK YOU.
We are absolutely humbled by the response to the launch of our Spreadshirt Site - and the Big John shirt certainly seems like a hit. Thank you to all that have ordered, and all those that continue to listen and support our work! WE LOVE YOU!
The front Avant Corps of the Providence Academy, April 2020.
Return of the haunted chapel bell next to portrait of Mother Joseph in 1975.
On this special two part episode, we take you on a tour of The Providence Academy in Vancouver, Washington, the last remaining building Mother Joseph herself built, where she lived and died.
The best way to experience these two episodes is to head over to the Providence Academy page to follow along with the photos as we walk through and describe the building's details. (We will link the episode audio there too.)
It appears that this building is ground zero for Hidden Brick magick and we'll tell you why. Why might hauntings experienced there over the years continue to happen?
Rumors of reasons for the activity here include CURSED BRICKS and a HAUNTED BELL. We'll separate the fact from the fiction when it comes to the local rumors here.
The same painting of Mother Joseph, painted by an artist with her studio inside the Academy, still hangs inside near the Urban Glow Hair Salon.
Episode 6 - Part Two: A Man's Experience Inside the Academy.
SJ's husband Dave joins us for part two of the virtual tour on episode 6 to discuss why men might have a bad time on the haunted top floor of the old school, convent, and orphanage that is considered Mother Joseph's finest work.
This amazing historic site is also in grave danger of partial demolition by the City of Vancouver for a dirty development deal under shady circumstances.
We really want you to be able and visit the whole site yourselves sometime in the future, and you can help us make that happen. MoJo needs our help.
Action items to help us fight to save it are at the bottom of the Academy Tour Page.
1962 - St . Joseph was still watching over all.
One of Andrea's photos from her first visit to the Academy in September 2020.
Third Floor Hallway... the floor directly under the very active attic. Footsteps are heard here when there's no one upstairs.
1964 - one lone nun...
1942 - this structure is sadly gone.
1942 - the front pillars still had their ornamental tops.
Episode Mentions!
We teased you with some hints about future guests! Here's our friends we mentioned on these episodes:
Janet Borkowski will talk with us about dowsing, psychometry and her impressions of the Academy gained from her skills as a psychic.
We are excited to get to talk with Anthony from Crypta Podcast soon about Masonic symbols and ritual, and how that could contribute to the high strangeness here.
Matt, aka A.P. Strange - Magickal as fuck and all around amazing dude. Sara's own personal Tenney (Weird Wikipedia) and Twitter bestie.
Liminal.Earth - A map of the strange, wonderful, unusual, and unexpected. Started by Jeremy and Garrett in Washington State.
Has synchronicity led to big changes in your life? If so, we want to talk to you!
WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING GUESTS FOR THE FOLLOWING EPISODES - PLEASE NOTE PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO RESEARCHERS/INVESTIGATORS THAT ARE OF COLOR, IDENTIFY AS LGBTQIA OR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES:
1. We are looking for an Indigenous/Native practitioner or investigator that would like to discuss the problems white paranormal investigators and magic practitioners contribute to intentionally or otherwise. How can we respectfully use Indigenous traditions in our work as white witches and be better allies?
2. We would like to interview a Hoodoo practitioner of color to discuss ancestor work and the use of bricks and brick dust in particular. How can we use Hoodoo concepts in our own practice without being shitty white content stealers?
We can't wait to talk to you again soon!
