What we are up to in 2 Minutes!
Before Andrea (she/her) and SJ (they/them - early interviews and episodes of the podcast use the name "Sara") ever met, they both noticed through their own investigations that there was a lack of quality Paranormal discussion and events in the Pacific Northwest. At the end of 2019 they decided to try create a Paranormal event that tackled the phenomenon in a respectful and intelligent manner - and get some Haunted Brick Action going!
Then the plague came.
Of course COVID had other plans for us, putting our plans to film and investigate in locations that had to do with Mother Joseph or Hidden Bricks, SJ's main research focus at the moment, on hold.

We buy into the theory that all the high strangeness we encounter is a different face of the same phenomenon... and synchronicity is one of the ways that the paranormal interacts with us.
While of course our initial focus is going to be on the bricks, as that's the main topic of synchronicity running through our lives at the moment, what's important is that the bricks are one vein of the Phenomenon. While all paranormal phenomena interests us, it's the concept of synchronicity that has personally allowed us to have our most powerful paranormal experiences.
We are running out of time to preserve this amazing place.
Mother Joseph built her Providence Academy in 1873 from Hidden Bricks, and SJ spent some time as a docent and tour guide at the building. Recently the City of Vancouver approved demolition of the laundry, boiler rooms and locally beloved smokestack under some less-than-above board circumstances. The historic outbuildings are are now in process of being demolished by the City to make room for a mixed use Apartment complex.
It's important to recognize the importance of the Providence Academy's entire site (not just the Academy's main building) and the important work that was done here. For more about these sad circumstances, see SJ's earlier personal blog.
Honoring Mother Joseph and the Sisters' legacy should always be the primary objective going forward, but this unique and magical place deserves to be appreciated by a broader audience than just the local Catholics.
Increasing public interest in this site was the only way we knew of to try toprevent the loss of these amazing buildings. We also believe Mother Joseph's unique story is far bigger than just the story of a typical nun. We recognized that the best medium for communicating the situation quickly was a podcast
The urgency of the pending demolition prompted us to finally begin talking publicly about the hauntings here. Despite the major problems with "ghost hunters" and the rise of popular crappy paranormal "reality" television, public interest in verifiably haunted sites has greatly increased as a result. *UPDATE: In late September 2022 the Providence Academy outbuildings were torn down.
Two Witches explored paranormal topics that interest us, weaving a recurring storyline about the Hidden bricks throughout. When we committed to creating a podcast about the hauntings, we spent some time thinking about what we liked (and didn't like) about our favorite podcasts.
We wanted to help amplify the voices of people of all colors, abilities, LGBTQIA identifications and other minorities whenever possible, as we firmly believe that they have long been denied an equal seat at the table. Allowing people to tell their own stories from their own cultures and perspectives is important to us, as is acknowledging white privilege and racism in the occult community.
